Air quality is very important in maintaining a healthy home. A common misconception is that the traditional 1” wide filter beside your furnace is for providing better quality air, when in fact that filter’s sole role is only to protect the furnace’s fan from items which could damage the fan blades, essentially 2 x 4s and small animals.  When a high quality filter is used in that 1” space, the airflow through the furnace is drastically reduced, causing the furnace operating temperature to increase beyond the limits of the furnace’s design; at best this will cause rapid degradation of the furnace, and at worst will cause the furnace to shut down due to overheating; the latter being more common the colder the outdoor temperature is, when you need the furnace the most.

High-Efficiency Media Air Cleaner – Extra wide to permit adequate air flow

The AMB11 High-Efficiency Media Air Filter helps protect and prolong the operating efficiency of central heating and cooling systems compared to systems that do not use enhanced air filtration components.
